RACHIN RAVINDRA THE NEXT BATTING SENSATION FOR NEW ZEALAND

RACHIN RAVINDRA: Scoring your maiden century in your first world cup match is a dream for any cricketer.

Rachin Ravindra is literally living this dream when he smashed 123 runs for New Zealand
against England in the opening match of ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 at Narendra Modi
cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. Rachin became the youngest New Zealand player to score a
century in world cup at the age of 23 years and 321 days.

Chasing 283 runs, Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway demolished England’s bowling with
aggressive display of batting. Both left handers made an impressive 273 run partnership
making a record of the highest partnership while chasing in world cup history. It is also the
highest unbeaten partnership in a world cup ever. Rachin was adjudged man of the match
for his brilliant batting prowess.

Born in New Zealand, Rachin has played 13 One Dayers, 18 T20 and 3 Tests. It is said that his
name is a combination of Rahul and Sachin, i.e. the first names of Rahul Dravid and Sachin
Tendulkar respectively, given by his father Ravi Krishnamurthy who was a big fan of the iconic
cricketers.

With this scintillating knock, he has declared his arrival on the world’s biggest cricket stage. His
batting has qualities like tremendous power and skillful placement. The cricket world is already
abuzz in anticipation if he is the next batting sensation. Cricket experts say if he can make a
big impact in forthcoming matches and carry his team to semi-finals, then he could be the
next superstar of world cricket.
