There was much to cheer for Australia in their warm up match against Netherlands at
Thiruvananthapuram as their star bowler Mitchell Starc took a sensational hat-trick to begin
their campaign in ICC Men’s world cup 2023.

The match was reduced to 23 overs innings due to incessant rain. The Dutch did well to restrict five time champions Australia to 166/7 in 23 overs. Cameron Green scored a decent 34 runs in 26 balls. In reply, Australia displayed a clinical bowling performance with Mitchell Starc causing much havoc for the Netherlands batsmen.

The pacer trapped Max O’Dowd lbw and then clean bowled Wesley Barresi with a fabulous
incoming delivery. The much anticipated hat-trick was completed in his following over when
he dismissed Bas De Leede with a spectacular yorker to the stumps.

The Dutch were in a terrible position at 84/6 in 15 overs when rain returned to their rescue.
The match was washed out leading to no-result giving much relief to Netherlands.
Australia will travel to Hyderabad to play against Pakistan for their final warm up game.

The world cup begins on October 4, 2023 with a grand opening ceremony at Narendra Modi
stadium in Ahmedabad. The first match will be played between England and New Zealand
on October 5, 2023 at 2 pm IST.
