VARANASI CRICKET STADIUM AND ITS UNIQUE CONNECTION WITH LORD SHIVA !!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Varanasi Cricket stadium on
September 23, 2023 in presence of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, BCCI
president Roger Binny, Secretary Jay Shah and iconic cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Famous
cricket legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Ravi Shastri and Dilip Vengsarkar graced the
occasion.

Taking Inspiration from world famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple, its infrastructure is based on
features of Lord Shiva. Its floodlights resemble a trident and roof covers will be crescent shaped.

The seating arrangement will look like ghats of Varanasi and the facade metallic sheets will be
like Bel Patra or wood apple leaves. A fascinating design is attributed to the media center which
will resemble a Damaru.

This venue is spread over 30 acres and It can host upto 30,000 spectators. The main ground will have nine practice wickets and high quality drainage system. Additionally it will have an outdoor ground and a huge parking facility. It will become the third international cricket stadium of Uttar Pradesh after Kanpur and Lucknow.

The stadium is located in the Lok Sabha constituency of PM Modi and aimed at developing state of art infrastructure for sports.

On this special occasion, Sachin Tendulkar presented an India team jersey named ‘NAMO’
having jersey number ‘1’ to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The stadium is expected to be
completely ready by December 2025.
