ICC MEN’S CRICKET WORLD CUP 2023: Folks save your dates for the biggest extravaganza, it will be hosted by India from 5 October to 19 November, 2023 after 12 long years. Ten highly competitive teams will participate in the 13th edition of the world cup for the coveted trophy.

Support your favorite team as the following 10 teams take the field soon to play 48 matches in a highly anticipated tournament – INDIA, AFGHANISTAN, AUSTRALIA, BANGLADESH, ENGLAND, NEW ZEALAND, PAKISTAN, SOUTH AFRICA, SRI LANKA and NETHERLANDS.

ROUND ROBIN IS THE WAY TO GO

As an ardent fan, you might be wondering what exactly is this format in cricket. It simply means that all 10 teams will face each other once, i.e. every team plays nine matches in Round Robin stage. The winner of every match gets two points while a match yielding no result will give a point each to both teams. Top four teams are selected on the basis of their points and they proceed to semi-finals. The winners of two semi-finals proceed to square off in the final match to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 19 November 2023.

WHOPPING PRIZE MONEY

The champions of the 2023 ODI World Cup will take home a mind boggling prize money of $4 million. The runner-up will get a huge $2 million prize money. The semifinalists won’t be disappointed either as they will receive $800,000 each. The total prize money for this mega tournament is $10 million.

APPEALING LOGO

The ICC unveiled the official logo for world cup which derives its origins from ‘NAVRASA’, a term of Indian theatre which symbolises nine prominent emotions which a cricket fan would experience in due course of this world cup. The nine emotions represent GLORY, RESPECT, BRAVERY, JOY, WONDER, ANGUISH, PASSION, PRIDE and POWER.

TWO MASCOTS FROM CRICTOVERSE

The ICC has invited suggestions for names to be given to two mascots, the male mascot a skillful batsman and the female mascot a fiery bowler, both from cricket utopia named Crictoverse. The two mascots were unveiled by U19 world cup winning captains Yash Dhull and Shafali Verma at Gurugram. Stay tuned to listen exciting developments from Crictoverse.

 The grand opening ceremony of the biggest festival of cricket will be held on 4 October 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Fasten your seat belts and enjoy the roller coster ride !!
