THE WORLD’S LARGEST CRICKET STADIUM AWAITS YOU
1. PROMINENT LOCATION – Situated in the vibrant city of Ahmedabad, the
Narendra Modi cricket stadium is located near the banks of river Sabarmati. The
entire sports infrastructure is named as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Complex.
2. SHEER SIZE – It is the largest cricket stadium in the world which can
accommodate 1,34,000 spectators. The sports complex is spread over 63 acres of
land. In simple terms, it is equivalent to size of 32 football fields. It has the distinction of
being the second largest stadium in the world in terms of seating capacity, following
Rungrado 1st of May stadium located in North Korea which can accommodate a
staggering 1,50,000 number of spectators.
3. CRICKETER’S DELIGHT – Cricket teams visiting here would love to see four
dressing rooms, eleven centre pitches and two practice grounds. It also has an
indoor cricket academy with a dormitory for 40 athletes. An unique feature of this
cricket ground is presence of sensors to detect the need of water for grass, which
can activate 67 automated underground pop-up sprinklers. Bermuda grass covers
the ground which is known for its aggressive growth rate and durability. It can regrow
quickly if damaged.
4. MEGA EVENTS – Along with International cricket matches and IPL, this venue
has organised NAMASTE TRUMP event in 2020 in honour of then US President
Donald Trump. This stadium has also been the venue for day and night test match
during England’s tour of India in 2021.
5. STATE OF ART FACILITIES – This venue has three entry points with an entry
point having a metro line. It has 76 corporate boxes, each having capacity for 25
persons, a clubhouse having 55 rooms and an Olympic-sized swimming pool. A
special feature of this stadium is the presence of LED lights on the roof instead of the
regular floodlights towers. The complex also has an indoor cricket academy, courts
for tennis, badminton and squash and even a 3D projector theatre. The parking lot
can accommodate a staggering 3,000 cars and 10,000 two-wheelers.
